I am Lari Long and at 55 have tried to lose weight and get in shape for a long time without much success. In January I topped out at 240 lbs. I was able to lose a few pounds but no real success. My blood pressure taking maximum dose was still 150’s over low 100’s. I knew I had to do something, but what? A few months ago Joey Powell came to our Rotary Club and presented us with CrossFit Training. Instantly I knew this was the program for me. I started CrossFit Training on March 9, 2009 and as of the first of July have dropped to 204 lbs. and with 1/4th the medicine my blood pressure today is 116/77. I will soon be off all medicine. I feel like a new person. My strength, endurance and energy are off the chart. The difference in CrossFit over any other workout is that this is a complete workout, putting your whole body into top shape. I also like the personal training on technique, the routines that we do and how to eat correctly. In my opinion there is nothing better out there to get totally fit in a short amount of time. I plan on CrossFitting for the rest of my life!
As a professional, I work as a team with my son Aaron Long at Re/Max Mountain Properties in the Prescott Arizona area. As a team we offer a wide variety of services. We list and sell homes, vacant land, and commercial property. We pride ourselves in complete, accurate market analysis on a property whether buying or selling and can help the investor determine if a particular investment property is right for them. Our goal is to always try to please, and protect our customers and do what is best for them. We are easy to work with and never pressure anyone to make a decision. We work on as a referral based business so happy customers, means everything to us. Prior to my Real Estate career I was a Commercial and Residential Building Contractor for 30 years. This allows me to better serve my customers by answering a lot of their technical questions about a property.

Fitness and athletics have always been a big part of my life. Growing up in New York City, the local YMCA
was my second home. I have always enjoyed the mental and physical benefit exercise has given me and I was very content with my little exercise routine. Then...my daughter begged me to go to CrossFitCHAOS one Saturday morning. I was hooked after one workout.
The first thing I love is that everyone arrives tired and morning ugly, wearing their best old "T" shirt and shorts, getting sweaty and dirty. It was great to see people actually working out and forgoing the "club" fashion show and "buzz" sessions. CrossFit and coach Joey teach fundamentals and guide every member thru the CrossFit basics until you are ready to join the workout of the day.
Secondly, it is fun, new, and challenging. I feel as we age, we tend to stay in our own comfort zone, and it is harder to get the maxim benefit out of exercise programs because they are so repetitious. Not so at CrossFitCHAOS. Every day is different and never the same. I don't feel like it is the same ole' same ole'.
Lastly, I spend less time working out at CrossFit and I am using muscles that have not been used in years. I also don't have to think about what to do because when I drive up to the "Box", it is all on the wall waiting for ME, along with Brussel (the dog).

Like most people, I have tried every possible diet and program out there to lose weight and, again, like most people have failed. In February 2009 I walked into the gym not expecting to find much of anything that would keep my interest for long. I was pleasantly surprised when I was introduced to Joey Powell. He explained the concept of CrossFit to me and I was intrigued. It only took a few personal training sessions and some diet counseling before I was hooked. I have lost 25 lbs and am well on my way to being in the best shape I have been in since high school. With my busy schedule as a small business owner, the Chaos Compound has quickly become my escape from the stresses of everyday life. Besides getting the physical and mental conditioning that I so desperately needed, CrossFit helped me find the “inner warrior” I didn’t even know was there.
I recently became a partner with House-Chilson and Associates after working there for over 10 years. I was hired as a receptionist when I was 20, became a licensed agent within 2 years and was given an amazing opportunity in 2008 by Bill Chilson & Dennis House to become part owner. House-Chilson is an independent insurance agency where “service is our best policy”. Locally owned and operated since 1973, House-Chilson does the shopping for you, placing your coverage with the company that best fits your needs. I have been a fit and active person all my life, working out on cardio machines, hiking, biking, and riding horses competitively. I like the variety of Crossfit and the challenge of doing something totally different. What we do at Crossfit translates into better endurance overall for all the things I do now. I don't ride horses any longer, but I do enjoy biking and hiking, and Crossfit makes it easier and more enjoyable. I can definitely see how Crossfit will help me breeze into my 6th decade with as much energy and stamina as I had in my 3rd and 4th decades!
